AltDesk :: RE: Mouse wheel support and compatibility with Taskbar Shuffle

The ability to keep the taskbar buttons in a particular order has long been requested (see the AltDesk 2.0 thread). There are several threads about this. If this capability was in AltDesk you wouldn't need Taskbar Shuffle. You might checkout a product called Taskbar Commander. I used it for quite awhile but it really wasn't what I wanted so I stopped using it. Actually I've stopped using AltDesk primarily because of this issue. Now I use button grouping and Taskbar Shuffle. As you can see I do keep an eye on this forum hoping that a new version of AltDesk will be released that maintains button order. Dang! It is been a long wait and still nothing... Sad

Unfortunately, Aston Options window cannot be resized, but the developers promised to make it scrollable in order the toolbar element put in a line were visible in any case.

OMG. The godam forum won't let me post because it insists I'm trying to post a link. I've been at this for half an hour now, and I'm getting pissed.

I reskinned VirtualGold like 5 years ago. I'm still waiting for my free key code, so I won't hold my breath.

Anyway, I recently reskinned it again, so I'll try to attach it now.

It's in bronze, copper, walnut and teak. No more stupid looking yellow and purple. The teak background is 'as good as it gets'. They have some really freaky method of stretching pics for the menu background. Anyway, here goes again, merry christmas.[/i]

Edit: Holy F***ing S***. 'The extension a2menu is not allowed.' Are you fricking kidding me??

Rename the .zip file to .a2menu

Hmm, sorry for all the cursing in that post last night. It was after a long 10 hour shift, and the 'No URL' thing had me ready to strangle somebody.

FYI, this skin matches the Winamp steampunk skin veery nicely. Smile

If you really WANT the yellow and purple one with the funny colored switches I can upload that too I 'spose, just so you know. Smile

Aston2 Menu Bugs :: RE: Aston 2 menu doesn’t show with extended desktop enabled

Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I may be able to provide a clue here. I think the key is where you activate the secondary monitor, and it's appearing on it in stead of the primary one.

As I recall, the last time I even TRIED to move the start menu bar to the secondary monitor, all HELL broke loose. I had to reboot in safe mode, shell explorer, then regedit the damned thing back to the primary. Obviously, I NEVER tried that again!

So, my guess is Microsoft implemented some sort of hack-fix that you guys are stumbling in to, 2 times out of three.

Well anyway, for all I know you've fixed this, and didn't report back on this thread, but I was just trying to be helpful. The bit about the menu bar appearing on the secondary display got me thinking is all.

Not to get ..um back ON topic or anything ( Wink ) ..but my 'new' business laptop has a 2ghz sempron and 1ghz of ram (a small chunk of which is shared for the crappy video card). It came with a Vista basic sticker on it, but PRAISE <insert> it came with XP. Video card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1270 (according to BelArc Advisor).

So anyway, Aston2 Menu (ver. 1.2) takes at least 5 seconds to pop up when clicked. Can one of you learned masters tell me how to hammer that down to an acceptable click-reaction time?

It also seems to be ignoring my custom icons, but I think that's an issue with me needing to rebuild shell32.dll to force it.

I'm also trying to figure out how to change the actual 'start menu' to have the options I want. It seems to have have scrapped Search and some other standard stuff, kept the custom Control Panel as a menu (or accidentally had it set that way to start with), and added Favorites (which being a Firefox user is 120% useless to me). But.. I haven't finished digging around the forums for an answer to that one yet.

At this rate, I won't have it working properly before my trial runs out. Wink Anyway, the speed bit is essential. I can always figure out a way to add Search and stuff in somewhere else if I have to.
